MUAR: Ng Pei Yao, a 23-year-old swimming coach, made sure to cast her vote despite a busy day preparing for her grandfather’s passing anniversary. She was one of the first few early voters at the SJKC Pei Chai voting centre in Muar. To ensure she had enough time later on, Ng decided to come early in the morning and help with her grandfather’s funeral anniversary after voting. This is her third time voting, having previously cast her ballot in the Johor state election and the 15th general election.
Voters were observed waiting at the polling centre as early as 7.30am. An image showing the crowd at the centre depicts the relatively low attendance at 8.30am.
Nga Kor Siang, a voter from Simpang Jeram, also arrived early because he had a day off work on Saturday (Sept 9). He emphasized that he never misses an election and sees voting as his responsibility as a citizen.
Pakatan Harapan candidate Nazri Abdul Rahman, who is running for the Simpang Jeram state seat, is expected to cast his vote at this polling centre at 10am.
