    Two areas record unhealthy API as of 9am

    KUALA LUMPUR: Two areas in Malaysia had unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings at 9am, a decrease from seven areas at 5pm yesterday.

    According to the data from the Environment Department’s Air Pollutant Index Management System, Nilai in Negeri Sembilan had the highest API reading of 151, followed by Bukit Rembai in Melaka with a reading of 112.

    The seven areas with the highest API readings at 5pm yesterday were Bukit Rambai (154), Bandaraya Melaka (151), Port Dickson in Negeri Sembilan (134), Tangkak in Johor (113), Alor Gajah in Melaka, Cheras 105, and Batu Pahat in Johor with readings of 103.

    API readings range from 0 to 50 for good air quality, 51 to 100 for moderate air quality, 101 to 200 for unhealthy air quality, and 201 to 300 for very unhealthy air quality. Readings above 300 are considered hazardous.

    The API data is updated hourly and is based on information from 68 air quality monitoring stations across the country.- Bernama
