PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has clarified that the reason the two books were taken from a shop in Wisma Central, Kuala Lumpur, last week was for the purpose of research and reviewing the contents. The Home Minister explained that this action was taken in response to public complaints expressing concerns about the books titled “Sang Pendidik Revolusioner” and “Koleksi Puisi Masturbasi,” which were believed to potentially threaten public order.
“We were only acting on public complaints. Only two books were taken for the purpose of research and to examine if the contents violated established guidelines and laws,” he stated during a media conference after the Home Ministry’s monthly assembly on Tuesday (Aug 22).
If the investigation by the ministry finds no illegal elements, the books will be returned to their owner.
Last Friday, Amir Hamzah Akal Ali, the owner of the bookshop and also a writer, claimed that Home Ministry officers raided his shop and seized the books. He asserted that the books were not banned in the country. – Bernama
