GOMBAK: Two deaths from food poisoning have been linked to food from a school here.
In a statement on Tuesday (June 11), Gombak OCPD Asst Comm Noor Ariffin Mohamad Nasir said that the first case involved the death of a 17-year-old boy after his mother brought back food from the school on June 8.
“After eating the food, the victim and both his parents experienced diarrhoea. On June 10, the victim fell unconscious.
“He was pronounced dead by medical officers at Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL),” he said.
The second case involved a two-year-old girl.
“Her father, who works as a security guard at the school, brought food back on the same day (June 8) and gave it to the child. On June 10, the victim’s mother observed that she had developed a fever, was vomiting, and was also suffering from diarrhoea.
“The little girl was pronounced dead while receiving treatment from medical officers at Hospital Selayang,” he said.
Both bodies have been handed over to the Selayang Hospital’s forensics department for further action. Police have classified the case as sudden death and have informed the Health Ministry of the incidents.
