IPOH: Two senior citizens were killed in an accident involving three vehicles in Taman Nesa near Sitiawan this morning.
The Perak Fire and Rescue Department’s assistant operations director, Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad, stated that the accident occurred between two cars and an express bus.
The Sitiawan Fire and Rescue Station was immediately dispatched to the scene at 6.15am on Friday (July 28) after receiving a distress call.
Sabarodzi explained that the crash resulted in significant damage to the front of the Proton Persona, trapping a 79-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman in their seats.
He stated, “The victims were pronounced dead at the scene by a medical team, and the bodies were handed over to the police for further action.”
Sabarodzi confirmed that the 12 passengers and the driver of the express bus, as well as the driver of the other car, escaped without any injuries.
Meanwhile, when contacted, the Manjung OCPD Asst Comm Mohamed Nordin Abdullah stated that the case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
He appealed to any witnesses of the accident to come forward and assist in the investigation by contacting traffic investigation officer Inspector Lily Suryana Roslaili at 013-655 9693. – Bernama
