In a recent incident at a religious school in Taboh Naning, Alor Gajah, two firemen experienced breathing difficulties while extinguishing a fire. They were promptly taken to Alor Gajah Hospital for treatment. Fortunately, their conditions were stable, and they did not suffer any serious injuries.
According to Fire Supt Mohd Amri Omar, the Alor Gajah Fire and Rescue Department chief, 18 firemen arrived at the scene at 12.45pm. Despite facing a shortage of water supply, they managed to bring the fire under control within 30 minutes. However, the fire had already caused significant damage, with 45% of the structure being affected.
The incident took place while 10 students, aged between nine and 20, were resting in the hostel. Luckily, none of the students sustained any injuries. The building itself had a partially wooden structure, and it is believed that the fire originated from the front of the school.
Regarding the cause of the fire, Mohd Amri stated, “We are currently investigating the actual cause.”
