    Two former PKR incumbents included in Perikatan’s Selangor polls line-up

    Perikatan Nasional will be fielding two former PKR incumbents for the Selangor election. Former PKR member Hilman Idham will defend his Gombak Setia seat under Perikatan Nasional in the upcoming Selangor polls. Hilman won the seat in the 2018 General Election under PKR with a 12,399 majority. The former aide to Selangor Perikatan chairman Datuk Seri Azmin Ali defected to Bersatu in 2020.

    Another former PKR member in Penang, Dr Afif Bahardin would be making his move to Selangor to contest in Taman Medan under the Petaling Jaya parliament. Dr Afif who was the Seberang Jaya assemblyman also left PKR in 2020.

    For Bersatu’s incumbent seat in Dengkil, Perikatan was fielding former domestic trader and consumer affairs secretary-general Jamil Salleh as its candidate. Jamil had served the civil service for 35 years. Dengkil is a Bersatu seat won by Bersatu in 2018.

    The coalition also named Bersatu Legal and Constitution bureau deputy chief Sasha Lyna Abdul Latif as the candidate for Bukit Antarabangsa. Bukit Antarabangsa seat was previously won by Selangor Perikatan chairman Azmin in the 14th General Election (GE14) under PKR.

    The Perikatan candidates list for Selangor was announced by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin with 31 names from Bersatu and its allied chapter for non-bumiputera, 17 candidates from Pas and eight from Gerakan.

    Under Gerakan, the coalition would field Selangor Bersatu non-bumiputera wing chief Datuk Goh Gaik Meng in Sekinchan and Wong Yong Kang in Kinrara.

    Of the eight candidates, Gerakan president Datuk Dominic Lau who was rumoured to contest in Selangor was absent in the list.

    Pas Ahmad Yunus Hairi will be defending his two-term seat in Sijangkang for the state polls in August. Ahmad Yunus won the seat in GE14 with a 1,677 majority.
