Tragedy struck on the East-West Highway near Banjaran Titiwangsa, Gerik, as two people lost their lives and eight others were injured in a head-on collision involving two cars.
The Perak Fire and Rescue Department director, Sayani Saidon, received a distress call at 12.23pm regarding the accident that took place at KM65 of the highway.
Upon arrival at the scene, it was discovered that the victims had already been taken out of the vehicles by members of the public.
Sayani Saidon mentioned, “The injured victims were promptly transported to Gerik hospital by ambulance. Tragically, the married couple from one of the cars did not survive, while a baby girl and two young boys sustained injuries. In the other vehicle, one man and four women also suffered injuries.”
