Two drivers tragically lost their lives in a head-on collision at KM103 along Jalan Johor Baru-Melaka near Tanjung Labuh in Batu Pahat. The incident occurred on Friday night, and Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Ismail Dollah received the notification around 11.40pm.
One of the victims was identified as 43-year-old Chin Sio Mei, who was driving from Rengit towards Batu Pahat. According to ACP Ismail, another car driven by 22-year-old Mohammad Ariff Azeem Ahmad approached from the opposite direction and entered Mei’s lane, resulting in a fatal collision.
Tragically, both drivers succumbed to their injuries at the scene due to the severity of the crash. The case is currently under investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act, and witnesses are urged to step forward and report to the nearest police station.
In a separate incident, a 17-year-old motorcyclist lost his life after colliding with a piece of wood at KM31.5 along the Senai-Desaru Expressway. Seri Alam OCPD Mohd Sohaimi Ishak revealed that the incident took place around 12.30am on Saturday.
The victim, a local resident, was on his way home near Sungai Tiram when he crashed into the wood on the road, leading to a fatal fall. The impact resulted in serious injuries, causing his unfortunate demise at the scene. His body was transported to Sultan Ismail Hospital in Johor Baru for further examination.
OCPD Mohd Sohaimi Ishak emphasized the importance of road users remaining vigilant while driving to prevent such tragedies from occurring.
