Two lorry attendants lost their lives in a tragic accident on the North-South Expressway near Gopeng. The incident occurred when their vehicle collided with the back of a trailer lorry at KM307 southbound.
Mohd Hamidi Manas, the officer-in-charge at Perak Fire and Rescue Department operations centre, confirmed that the victims, both Bangladesh nationals aged 26 and 29, were pronounced dead by Health Ministry personnel at 5.55am on Friday.
One of the lorry attendants, aged 36, sustained a broken arm in the crash. Fortunately, the 57-year-old driver of the trailer lorry, which was carrying flour, escaped unharmed.
Upon reaching the scene, rescuers found the two victims trapped inside the three-tonne lorry, loaded with furniture. The bodies were retrieved and handed over to the police for further procedures, while the injured lorry driver was taken for medical treatment.
The accident has left a somber atmosphere, highlighting the dangers that lorry attendants face on the road. It serves as a grim reminder of the importance of road safety and vigilance while driving.
