    KUCHING: Tragedy struck as two men lost their lives while searching for clams along the Esplanade Buntal beach in Kampung Buntal. The unfortunate incident occurred on Tuesday morning (July 11), when the strong current swept them away. The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department operations centre announced that the body of the first victim, Mohamad Amin Umar, aged 39, was discovered at 3.30am, followed shortly by the recovery of Awang Khairul Aziq Awang Chula, aged 25, at 3.42am the same day. The centre was alerted of the incident at 12.47am. Thankfully, another friend who accompanied them managed to save himself. The bodies of the two victims have been handed over to the police for further investigation, according to a statement from the Fire and Rescue Department. – Bernama
