In Kampung Perpat, Kuala Sedili, two friends tragically drowned after falling into a drain. The incident was reported to the police at around 1.25pm on Wednesday (Jan 10) according to Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Hussin Zamora.
The victims, aged 15 and 19 years, had gone fishing in the area with their friends before the tragic incident occurred. “They were casting their fishing nets into the drain when one of them started to play around causing both of them to slip and fall into the drain before drowning,” explained Supt Hussin in a statement.
The two victims were identified as Muhammad Airell Iskandar Mohamad Aliff and Mohamad Azihan Baharum.
Supt Hussin said the bodies of the two victims have been sent to Kota Tinggi Hospital for a post-mortem, and the case has been classified as sudden death.
