Two teenagers, both aged 19, were killed instantly after their car crashed into a tree while en route to the city center in Johor Baru.
Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat stated that the incident occurred around 2am on Saturday (Aug 26) as they were traveling from Skudai.
“While driving along Jalan Tun Abdul Razak, the 19-year-old driver lost control of the car and veered into a tree on the left side of the road.
“The impact caused the vehicle to spin and overturn. The driver and his 19-year-old passenger were pronounced dead at the scene,” he said in a statement.
In a separate incident on Friday (Aug 25), ACP Raub reported that a motorcyclist died immediately after colliding with a stationary lorry on the same road.
“The incident took place at approximately 6.30pm, as the male motorcyclist in his 40s was traveling from Johor Baru towards Skudai.
“Suddenly, he lost control of his motorcycle, fell, and slid under a lorry that was parked by the roadside.
“He landed headfirst and died on the spot,” he added.
Both cases are currently under investigation in accordance with Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
He urged all road users to stay vigilant and avoid any unfortunate incidents.
