PUTRAJAYA: Kudat-born policeman Kpl Mohd Khairul Azhar Abbi Paisa (pic) said that he is proud to have led the Rukun Negara recitation at the 2024 National Day celebration.

Mohd Khairul Azhar then said that he wishes Malaysians a joyous National Day celebration and added that he hopes that each citizen can defend the freedom that is being enjoyed.

He then said that it took him about a week to perfect his recitation before the event.

After reciting the Rukun Negara, Mohd Khairul Azhar also led the attendees and guests chanting the iconic “Merdeka” seven times – emulating the first Prime Minister Tuanku Abdul Rahman Putra al-Haj over 60 years ago.

He was joined by 66 Bachelor of Teaching Degree Programme (PPISMP) students from the Institut Pendidikan Guru (IPG) Kampus Ilmu Khas Cheras, Kuala Lumpur.

Mohd Khairul Azhar was one of three Ulu Tiram police station officers who were promoted due to their actions when facing the May 17 attack at the police station.
