Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) has launched the Emergency Fund for Palestine initiative and aims to raise RM20,000 in donations. Vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Razli Che Razak is confident that they will achieve their target as they have already collected RM10,000 within a week. The donations were made through QR code payment, which contributed a significant amount to the fund. UMK plans to continue collecting contributions for another week during their convocation ceremony, with an expected attendance of 10,000 parents and graduates. The funds will be handed over to the Higher Education Ministry, who will distribute them to recognized non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and send them to Palestine.

During the launch of the Solidarity Programme for Palestine at UMK Bachok Campus, Razli stated that similar programs were conducted at UMK branches in Jeli and Pengkalan Chepa to raise awareness about the Palestinian people’s struggle in Gaza. The event was attended by 300 students and over 100 university staff.

Razli Che Razak expressed his gratitude for the generous contributions received so far and urged more individuals to support the cause. The initiative aims to provide assistance to the people of Palestine, who are facing challenging circumstances.

The university plans to leverage the upcoming convocation ceremonies to further increase the fund’s size before its distribution.

The fund will ultimately be sent to recognized NGOs to ensure proper distribution to those in need. UMK believes that collective efforts will make a significant impact in alleviating the hardships faced by the Palestinian people.
