Umno has conducted a post-mortem on its recent performance in the state elections of six states. The findings of the post-mortem were obtained from Umno divisions and party wings across the nation, according to the party’s secretary-general, Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki. These findings were discussed in the party’s supreme council meeting held at the Umno headquarters at the World Trade Centre (WTC) in Kuala Lumpur on September 13.
Asyraf stated that Umno will take remedial measures and make improvements based on the post-mortem findings. Additionally, the party aims to enhance and strengthen ties with Pakatan Harapan component parties to ensure political stability in the unity government.
Furthermore, Umno plans to hold a party division convention focused on fortifying the party and creating common understanding among grassroots members regarding the party’s policies, principles, and direction in the unity government.
In response to Isham Jalil’s call for Umno to have a referendum on its cooperation with DAP, Asyraf mentioned that this matter was not discussed during the meeting.
