KUALA LUMPUR: The Umno supreme council has decided to initiate legal action against Rembia state assemblyman Datuk Muhammad Jailani Khamis for defecting and joining PAS.
The party’s secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the party will sue Jailani for RM100mil in compensation as stated in the agreement made.
“The Umno supreme council meeting today (July 31) has reviewed and decided to initiate legal action and demand RM100mil in compensation from the lawmaker who has gone against the party’s stance,” he told the press after the meeting at the Umno headquarters at Menara Dato Onn here on Wednesday night (July 31).
