PONTIAN: According to Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, Umno will continue its efforts to preserve and promote Malay culture and traditions, such as silat. Ahmad Maslan, a member of the Umno supreme council, stated that this commitment aligns with the party’s constitution, which emphasizes the importance of safeguarding Malay culture and tradition.
Ahmad Maslan emphasized that Umno will ensure that silat, an integral part of Malay tradition, is kept alive. He expressed the belief that it is the responsibility of Umno to protect and maintain Malay culture. He also noted that the keris, a symbol of Malay tradition, is included in Umno’s flag and logo.
After officiating at the Johor Silat Festival 2023 in Dataran Dato Jalok, Ahmad Maslan, who is also the Deputy Finance Minister and Pontian MP, announced that he had allocated RM50,000 to support the festival. He urged other leaders in Johor to do the same and support similar festivals in their respective areas.
Additionally, Ahmad Maslan revealed plans to allocate another RM50,000 for the construction or renovation of five silat arenas in Pontian. He expects these arenas to be completed within the current year.
