Umno Youth will be gathering feedback from voters to understand why Barisan Nasional performed poorly in the recent six state elections. The chief of the youth wing, Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh, announced that survey forms will be made available on various online platforms by Wednesday (Aug 23) to obtain insights from voters and other Malaysians. The goal is to identify the reasons for the rejection of Barisan Nasional by certain voters and to develop strategies for regaining the public’s trust.
According to Dr Muhamad, the intention behind this survey is not to pin blame on leaders but to identify areas for improvement and make the necessary changes to remain relevant. He emphasized that it is normal for any political party to conduct a post-mortem after an election to understand the reasons behind their poor performance. In the recent elections, Barisan Nasional lost all the seats it contested in Terengganu and Kedah, only managed to win two seats in Penang and Selangor, and one seat in Kelantan. However, the coalition performed well in Negri Sembilan, winning 14 out of the 17 seats it contested.
