Despite facing criticism for his comments, a PKR lawmaker in Pasir Gudang remains steadfast in speaking his mind and is unfazed by the prospect of being ousted from the party. Pasir Gudang MP Hassan Karim emphasized that he has no intention of keeping silent when he believes things are not right.
Undeterred by the potential consequences, Hassan noted that he has nothing to lose and expressed his willingness to face any repercussions, including being replaced by another party member. “If I am to be sacked, then so be it. I will just change my clothes from being an MP to being a lawyer and go to court,” he asserted.
Speaking at a Chinese New Year celebration at the Kim Ying temple in Plentong, Hassan reiterated his stance, highlighting that he is already advanced in age and cannot simply agree and bow down without speaking his mind.
Furthermore, Hassan highlighted the receptiveness of party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who also serves as the Prime Minister, to criticism, emphasizing PKR’s commitment to freedom of speech and expression, especially under Anwar’s leadership. He expressed confidence in Anwar’s willingness to respect and accept criticism and emphasized that despite facing backlash, Anwar continues to maintain contact with him.
Reiterating his resolve, Hassan emphasized his trust in Anwar and his commitment to upholding freedom of speech within the party. He noted that while he is uncertain about the future under a different president, he remains steadfast in his beliefs due to his confidence in Anwar’s leadership and principles.
As the controversy surrounding his remarks continues, Hassan is resolute in his stance and unafraid to face the consequences, emphasizing the importance of speaking out against perceived injustices. Despite the potential risk of expulsion from the party, Hassan’s unwavering commitment to voicing his opinions remains unchanged.
