CHUKAI: Despite being run by the Opposition, Terengganu has not been neglected by the unity government. Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan stated that the state has continued to receive aid directly from the Federal Government.
Ahmad Maslan highlighted that Terengganu residents received a total of RM241.8mil in Rahmah Cash Aid (STR) this year, benefiting 390,210 individuals. In addition, farmers in the state received aid through Bernas, as well as an Aidilfitri special aid, while 23,620 people received welfare aid amounting to RM1.28mil.
Speaking to reporters during his visit to the Kampung Mak Chili district voting centre, Ahmad Maslan emphasized the importance of maintaining assistance to Terengganu, including aid for rural roads, house repairs, classroom upgrades, and townships and traditional villages.
He expressed his belief that if Barisan Nasional wins the Kemaman parliamentary by-election, there will be significant benefits and improvements for the Kemaman constituency, similar to when it was represented by Barisan previously.
Ahmad Maslan commented on the need for a bridge to facilitate communication between the state and central government, suggesting that having a leader from the government would be beneficial if BN wins the by-election on Dec 2.
Reminding the Barisan machinery not to be deterred by the 27,000-vote majority loss during the 15th general election, Ahmad Maslan emphasized the potential for success in the by-election, stating that the former Chief of Defence Force had a good chance of prevailing against PAS.
He stressed the importance of having a strong bridge between the central government and the state, citing the need for a leader who grew up in Kemaman to connect them, and urged not to “burn the only bridge we want to build.” – Bernama
