The Klang Municipal Council (MPK) is focusing on upgrading public parks, improving cleanliness, rebuilding broken drains, and resolving floods in residential areas as part of its efforts to achieve city status. The council aims to enhance basic amenities and address flooding issues to improve the well-being of the community. Noraini Roslan, the president of MPK, highlighted the need to provide good infrastructure and amenities, and to create better public parks that promote the green landscape, fresh air, and healthier individuals. The council intends to establish dedicated parks that offer safe gathering spaces for people of all ages.
To address the cleanliness issue, Noraini mentioned that efforts and increased public engagement have led to Taman Sentosa becoming a relatively litter-free area. The council utilized methods such as CCTV cameras, awareness talks, and enforcement measures to reduce illegal dumpsites along roadsides. MPK plans to strengthen its collaboration with the community in areas like recycling and public hygiene. Furthermore, the council seeks to find a long-term solution to the problem of flooding in residential areas, as outdated drainage networks can no longer accommodate the expanding townships and increasing population density.
In addition, Noraini announced that the council is offering discounts on various traffic compounds to celebrate the 66th National Day. The discounts range from RM15 to RM300 and are applicable until Sept 17. However, offences related to misusing reserved and disabled parking bays and obstructing parking bays are not eligible for the discounts. Payments for the traffic compounds can be made through Jompay, Smart Parking MPKlang app, iKiosk machines at MPK’s headquarters, and ipay.mpklang.gov.my.
