KULIM: The Education Ministry is prioritizing the maintenance and repair of dilapidated schools across Malaysia, including six in Kedah. According to Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, all these projects will be closely monitored, and regular updates on their progress will be provided. “We are giving special attention to dilapidated schools and will ensure continuous monitoring of these projects. In Kedah, the schools in the Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Baling, and Sik districts are affected,” Fadhlina told reporters at the national-level Innovation and Robotics Competition 2023 held on Sunday (July 9).

Fadhlina was responding to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s announcement about the allocation of RM10.1 million to repair or upgrade 40 health clinics and six dilapidated schools in Kedah as part of the Third Rolling Plan of the 12th Malaysia Plan.

In a separate statement to Bernama, Kedah Health director Datuk Dr Othman Warijo revealed that 38 projects are currently underway as part of the dilapidated clinic allocation for this year. These projects, which consist of 31 health clinics and seven rural clinics, are in the implementation stage and have been allocated RM7.85 million. Dr. Othman stressed that the allocation will greatly improve safety, comfort, and convenience for the public, especially Kedahans. He further added that these improvements can also boost the morale of health workers and enhance their services to the public.

The efforts to restore and maintain dilapidated schools and health clinics in Kedah reflect the government’s commitment to providing quality education and healthcare facilities for the public. With continuous monitoring and regular updates, it is hoped that these essential projects will be completed efficiently and contribute to the overall improvement of infrastructure in the region.
