A fire at the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Engineering Campus in Nibong Tebal has devastated 60% of the computer laboratory.
Luckily, no one was injured as the incident occurred when the lab was unoccupied.
Penang Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre received a distress call at 10.10am, prompting the Nibong Tebal Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) to dispatch a team to the scene.
Upon arrival, the fire department found the computer lab fully engulfed in flames.
Officials managed to extinguish the fire, preventing it from spreading to other buildings, by 10.41am.
The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are still under investigation. – Bernama
