KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi believes that Kelantan would experience greater development if voters supported the unity government parties in the state.
During a media briefing at RTM in Angkasapuri on July 31, the Deputy Prime Minister highlighted that Kelantan’s contribution to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is a mere 1.8%. He further emphasized that the state has always faced economic challenges.
“Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is committed to assisting all states, including Kelantan, with their water, flood, and development issues,” stated Dr Ahmad Zahid.
He also noted, “By changing their political stance and supporting the unity government parties, such as Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan, voters in Kelantan would reap more benefits.”
Dr Ahmad Zahid suggested that after 33 years of PAS governance, Kelantan has relied solely on income per capita, resulting in significant economic backwardness in the state.
He continued, “This demonstrates that Kelantan needs assistance, and this assistance will be provided as long as the people of Kelantan align themselves with the Federal Government.”
“We can offer more employment opportunities, as well as promote upskilling and development for the people,” added the Minister of Rural and Regional Development.
