The brother-in-law of a woman who was gang raped in Wangsa Maju will also be charged with raping her.
The man was initially charged on Sept 8 for conspiring with accomplices to facilitate the gang rape of the 26-year-old woman.
Wangsa Maju OCPD Supt Ashari Abu Samah said investigations revealed the suspect was also one of the five who raped the victim.
“The suspect was initially charged under Section 375B of the Penal Code on Sept 8.
“We will now be amending the charge to Section 376(1) of the Penal Code. The suspect and four others who were arrested will be charged in court on Wednesday,” he said when contacted.
It was reported that one suspect in the gang assault and rape of a 26-year-old woman in Wangsa Maju made a video recording of the attack.
The victim was awakened from sleep after being gagged and tied up by five men. One of them raped her while another recorded the attack.
At around 9.30pm on Sept 2, police arrested a 29-year-old man in front of a restaurant in Jalan Rampai Niaga 5 in Wangsa Maju.
The suspect was identified as the victim’s brother-in-law.
The suspects managed to enter the house because the brother-in-law had told the victim earlier to leave the door unlocked.
The other suspects were arrested between Sept 7 and Sept 9.
