KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz, a member of the Muafakat Nasional supreme council, has warned that they will organize more rallies if their demands are not met. Tun Faisal, who was one of the organizers of the recent “Save Malaysia” rally, stated that the gathering on Saturday was just the beginning of their campaign for change. He further mentioned that they have planned similar rallies to take place in Permatang Pauh and Bagan Datuk. Their main demand is the “re-charging” of Zahid Hamidi, referring to Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, and they will continue these rallies until this change happens.
In addition to the demand for Zahid Hamidi’s re-charging, they are also calling for the independence of the Attorney-General’s Chambers and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) from executive powers. Tun Faisal emphasized that they are serious about their demands and will organize further marches if the Deputy Prime Minister is not charged again in court, and if their police report against him is not properly investigated.
Expressing their concerns, Tun Faisal alleged that many in the government bloc were dissatisfied with the decision of discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA). He noted that Umno was the only party supporting this decision, which has caused the public to lose faith in the government and Prime Minister.
The gathering concluded peacefully at 3.30pm with participants singing the Negaraku. Police personnel were present to ensure crowd control throughout the event.
