On Saturday (Jan 27), a minor earthquake with a magnitude of 3.6 on the Richter scale took place in the eastern waters of Sabah at 2.11 pm, as reported by The Malaysian Meteorological Department.
The department stated that the epicenter of the earthquake was situated at 6.2 degrees north and 118.4 degrees east at a depth of 10 km. It was located 57km north-east of Sandakan, Sabah.
The department also clarified that there was no risk of a tsunami to Malaysia in connection with the earthquake, as mentioned in their official statement. – Bernama
