KUALA LUMPUR: According to Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Mohamad Alamin, as of November 3, a total of 518 victims of job scam syndicates have been rescued by the Foreign Ministry.
Datuk Mohamad Alamin stated that the ministry is currently in the process of identifying 26 Malaysians in Laukkaing, Myanmar, who are also believed to be victims of such syndicates.

He also mentioned that the ministry is working through the Malaysian Embassy in Yangon, in collaboration with Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, and China, to bring these 26 victims home safely.

Mohamad stated that police would take witness statements from the victims upon their return home.
He emphasized the need for a whole-of-government approach in addressing the issue of job scam syndicates and mentioned the formation of a special committee led by the Foreign Ministry to tackle this issue.

The ministry had also conducted awareness programs to educate the public about such syndicates, as highlighted by Mohamad. He also urged all Malaysians to remain vigilant when receiving job offers from dubious social media platforms.
