Liverpool are aiming to extend their unbeaten run this season in order to stay in touch with league leaders and champions Manchester City. The team has recently secured three consecutive wins, including a 2-1 victory over Newcastle United despite playing with only 10 men, and a 3-0 triumph against Aston Villa. These strong performances have given the Reds a boost of confidence as they prepare to face Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux Stadium.
Currently in third place, Liverpool is still in a transitional phase after making changes to their midfield. However, they should have the ability to come away with a victory against Wolves. Fans are excited about the team’s recent performances and are hopeful for more success under the leadership of Jurgen Klopp, as they try to forget their disappointing performance from last season.
There are many reasons for Liverpool supporters to be excited, especially with the rapid integration of Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister into the squad. Szoboszlai’s recent performances have particularly impressed fans, with his exceptional work-rate and technical abilities.
Unfortunately, Liverpool will be without their club captain Virgil van Dijk for the upcoming match, as he has received an additional one-match ban following his red card at St James’ Park last month. Vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold is also in a race against time to be fit, as he sustained an injury during the Aston Villa game.
In Alexander-Arnold’s absence, Joe Gomez is expected to retain his position alongside Joel Matip in the heart of Liverpool’s defense. If Alexander-Arnold fails his fitness test, defensive midfielder Wataru Endo, another summer signing, may be asked to fill in, as he has experience playing in that position in his earlier years. Ryan Gravenberch, the recent deadline-day acquisition, could also make his debut for the team.
Wolves, currently in 15th place, will be hoping to replicate their success from last season when they defeated a struggling Liverpool side 3-0. They have not been performing poorly, but they need to improve and capitalize on their chances in crucial moments if they want to climb up the table.
