SERDANG: A woman and her boyfriend residing in Taman Puncak Jalil in this area have been apprehended in connection with the death of her five-year-old son.
The Serdang OCPD Asst Comm A.A. Anbalagan disclosed that the boy had been taken to Hospital Serdang for medical attention around 12:50 am on Aug 22.
“Upon arrival at the hospital, he was found to be unconscious.
“Unfortunately, despite efforts to revive him through CPR, the medical staff were unsuccessful.
“Initially, they were informed that the victim had been struck by a vehicle,” he stated in a press release on Saturday (Aug 26).
However, further examination uncovered multiple bruises and old wounds on the boy’s body, indicating signs of physical abuse,” he mentioned.
“After questioning the 44-year-old mother and her 29-year-old boyfriend, it was discovered that they had filed a false police report claiming that the boy had been run over by a truck,” he added.
Both suspects were apprehended on the same day, ACP Anbalagan confirmed.
“Investigations revealed that they had been involved in a relationship since the death of her husband last year.
“Both suspects tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine and are currently under remand until Tuesday (Aug 29),” he informed.
He further stated that a post-mortem examination indicated extensive soft tissue injury resulting from multiple blunt force trauma.
