A woman died in a tragic accident when a tree fell on her car while she was driving along Jalan Ulu Yam-Gombak in Ulu Yam. The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department operations command centre chief, Zulfikar Jaffar, stated that they received a distress call regarding the incident at approximately 6.14pm on Tuesday, October 31. In response, a fire engine and four personnel from the Kuala Kubu Baru fire station were promptly dispatched to the scene.

Upon arriving at the location, the emergency responders discovered that a tree had fallen onto a Perodua Alza car. The driver was still trapped inside the vehicle. Work immediately commenced to cut the fallen tree and extricate the driver. Fortunately, at around 7.10pm, they successfully freed the driver from the wreckage. Medical personnel on-site, however, pronounced the woman dead.

As investigations and rescue operations were carried out, the area was cordoned off to maintain public safety and allow uninterrupted access for the emergency services. A thorough examination of the incident scene was conducted by the authorities to determine the cause of the tree falling. The relevant agencies are working diligently to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

According to witnesses at the scene, the fallen tree had a substantial size and appeared to be in poor condition. This raises concerns about the regular maintenance and inspection of trees in the area to identify potential risks. Authorities should consider implementing stronger measures to ensure the safety of motorists and pedestrians.

Local government officials have expressed their condolences to the family of the victim and are committed to providing assistance and support during this difficult time. They are also urging residents to report any hazardous or unstable trees to the relevant authorities for immediate action.

This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the dangers presented by severe weather conditions and the importance of regular tree maintenance and inspections. Initiatives should be undertaken by the relevant authorities to sensitize the public about the potential risks and precautions that can be taken to avoid similar accidents.

The deceased woman’s identity has not been disclosed to the public as authorities work to notify her next of kin. The investigation into this unfortunate incident is ongoing, and further updates will be provided as soon as they become available.
