At KM164.8 northbound on the North-South Expressway (NSE) between Bukit Minyak and Sungai Bakap, a woman lost her life in a collision involving two trailers and four cars. The incident took place at approximately 4 am.
A State Fire and Rescue Department spokesman provided details, stating that one individual sustained critical injuries, while five others suffered minor injuries. Fortunately, the two drivers of the trailers and 14 other individuals involved in the accident did not sustain any injuries.
The impact of the collision caused one of the timber-loaded trailers to overturn and obstruct the highway. Additionally, numerous individuals in the cars were trapped as a result of the accident, said the spokesman.
Among the 21 individuals involved in the accident, some had to be rescued by firemen using specialized tools. The rescued victims were then transported to nearby hospitals for medical attention.
Ongoing operations are being conducted to ensure that there are no individuals trapped under the pile of wood from the overturned trailer.
