    Woman killed, three others badly hurt in Lahad Datu accident

    KOTA KINABALU: A fatal accident occurred in Lahad Datu on Monday (July 10), claiming the life of a woman.

    The victim, a woman in her 50s, was one of five occupants in a car, including a child.

    Tragically, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene by medical professionals, while three others sustained serious injuries.

    The Fire and Rescue Department received a report at 3.35pm regarding the fatal accident on Jalan Lahad Datu – Tawau, involving a Proton Saga and a Toyota Hilux.

    Before the arrival of the firemen, a child victim had already been rushed to the hospital.

    “Our team swiftly proceeded to extract the four victims trapped in the vehicle using rescue tools. Upon extraction, three individuals were found to have sustained serious injuries, while tragically, one individual lost their life on the spot,” explained a spokesperson from the department.

    The injured victims were immediately transported to the hospital for further treatment, while the deceased body was handed over to the police for further investigation.

    In a separate incident in Tuaran, a 32-year-old man suffered injuries after accidentally crashing his 4WD vehicle into a house in a village within the district.

    Tuaran Fire and Rescue Department promptly responded to the incident at Kampung Bunga, Jalan Tenghilan, following a report received at 4.38pm.

    “The victim, who was trapped in the driver’s seat, was successfully freed by our firemen and handed over to the ambulance for transportation to the hospital for further medical attention,” added the spokesperson.

    The operation concluded at 5.10pm, ensuring there were no remaining hazards at the location.
