IPOH: Police have revealed that the babysitter involved in the alleged abuse of a six-month-old baby, who tragically passed away on Friday (July 14) at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital, is an experienced nanny. According to Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Hassan, the 52-year-old suspect had a decade’s worth of experience in caring for infants. He went on to state, “The victim was the 13th child under her care. However, it should be noted that she does not possess a license.”
The police were notified of the baby’s death by the hospital on Friday, after the child had been in a coma for two days. The babysitter was previously arrested on July 13 and was initially being investigated for neglect or abuse. However, the charges have since been upgraded to murder. She is currently in custody and will remain detained until Monday (July 17).
ACP Yahaya additionally mentioned that the parents, who had returned from Australia, collected their deceased child’s body on Sunday morning. The victim was the youngest of two siblings and had an older brother, aged three.
