An insurance agent was shocked when she felt a tap on her calf while riding an escalator and turned around to see a man pulling a mobile phone from under her skirt. The incident took place on Tuesday as the woman, aged 35, was on her way to a specialist medical centre in Kota Damansara.
She explained, “I parked my car in the basement car park and took the escalator to collect a medical report. As I was going up, I felt a very slight touch on my right calf and immediately turned to check. To my horror, I saw a man withdrawing his phone from under my dress.” The woman immediately screamed at the man, who denied any wrongdoing and quickly fled the scene.
She then approached the management office to obtain CCTV footage of the incident. However, she was informed that the car park was managed by a different company who refused to cooperate. Determined not to let the culprit get away, she proceeded to the Kota Damansara police station to lodge a report.
Speaking about the incident, the woman said, “I want to bring attention to this incident so that the culprit does not get away with it. I also hope that the parking management will be more cooperative with the police in tracking down the suspect.”
Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid, the OCPD of Petaling Jaya, confirmed the report and encouraged anyone with information regarding the case to contact the police hotline at 03-2052 9999 or visit the nearest police station.
