KUALA TERENGGANU: A woman and her two underage daughters have been apprehended by the police in Kuala Terengganu for their alleged involvement in a burglary syndicate. Terengganu police chief Datuk Mazli Mazlan stated that the 33-year-old suspect and her 13 and 14-year-old children were arrested on Monday evening in Kampung Binjai, Kemaman, while attempting to flee in a Perodua Kelisa vehicle.

Inside the car boot, authorities discovered two sharp objects and various items believed to be stolen goods, which include jewelry, bags, cash, and wristwatches.

“The 33-year-old suspect has tested positive for methamphetamine. Initial investigations indicate that she has three criminal records and is also wanted for a housebreaking offense in Johor,” he revealed during a press conference held on Wednesday (Oct 25).

The police chief further disclosed that the woman used counterfeit license plates to commit burglaries and has admitted to committing five burglaries in Kemaman and Johor this year. She specifically targeted elderly individuals living alone, with her children distracting the victims while she conducted the burglaries.

Mazli mentioned that the authorities are actively pursuing other members of the burglary syndicate.

Regarding the incident where a trader displayed the Israeli flag in Bukit Payong, Marang last week, Mazli confirmed that the police have concluded their investigation and will submit the case to the state prosecutor’s office.

“The case falls under Section 5 of the Emblems and Names Act 1963 and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 for acts that disrupt the peace, as well as Section 39C of the Dangerous Drugs Act,” he explained.
