A woman in Shah Alam jumped out of a moving car after feeling unsafe due to the e-hailing driver’s behavior. The driver, who was hard of hearing, did not respond to her questions. The incident occurred on Friday morning, and the woman reported it to the police later.
The 31-year-old woman, who worked in food catering, got into the vehicle at the Glenmarie LRT station to go to her workplace in Denai Alam. She sat in the back and asked the driver if she could pay with cash, but he did not reply. She also claimed that the driver repeatedly stared at her through the rearview mirror. Feeling threatened, she decided to jump out of the car while it was moving on Jalan Temasya, Glenmarie. Thankfully, she did not suffer any injuries.
The police investigation revealed that the 26-year-old driver was genuinely hard of hearing and worked as a legitimate e-hailing driver. He had just started the previous day and the woman was his third fare. The driver explained that he was not familiar with the roads and was attempting to make a U-turn when the woman suddenly jumped out.
The driver continued working after the incident and accepted other fares. The police have classified the case as no further action (NFA) since it was a misunderstanding. The woman also withdrew her report. The police urge the public to avoid spreading unverified information and refrain from jumping to conclusions.
