Residents in PUCHONG are being urged to take action to reduce crime in their neighborhoods, according to Serdang district police chief Asst Comm AA Anbalagan. He revealed that there have been 215 criminal cases reported in the district this year. Among them, 59 were classified as violent crimes, while the remaining 156 were related to property issues.
During a community safety program organized by Bandar Puteri 8 Rukun Tetangga at the local badminton court, ACP Anbalagan emphasized the importance of cooperation between the public and the police in order to apprehend culprits and reduce crime rates. He encouraged residents to promptly alert the police if they observe any suspicious individuals in their neighborhoods during late hours or early in the morning. Additionally, he suggested installing closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras outside homes to capture footage as evidence of criminal activities.

Participating in the program, Datuk Samson Maman, chairman of Bandar Puteri Residents Association and Rukun Tetangga, highlighted the importance of avoiding scams and offered tips to participants. He cautioned against falling for deceptive low prices, advised recipients not to panic when receiving calls requesting personal information, and stressed the importance of not divulging bank account details to unknown individuals.
George Yap, a councilor from Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ), also attended the event and noted that it provided an opportune platform for residents to seek immediate responses from the authorities regarding their concerns. ACP Anbalagan concluded the program by reiterating the significance of joining neighborhood groups as a means to enhance cooperation between the public and law enforcement agencies.
