    X90 fire not due to exploding battery, says Proton

    MALAYSIAN car manufacturer Proton has responded to a viral video of an X90 vehicle catching fire, stating that the battery used in its mild hybrid system did not explode. The company confirmed that it is currently in possession of the vehicle and is conducting an investigation in collaboration with the relevant authorities to determine the cause of the incident. In a statement posted on Facebook, Proton emphasized that there was no explosion caused by the Proton X90’s mild hybrid battery and requested the public’s cooperation in refraining from speculative discussions. The company assured users of its products that their vehicles are developed to meet the highest standards, with stringent quality and safety inspections conducted prior to delivery to customers.
