Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi believes that Muda, a political party founded by Syed Saddiq, could face the same fate as Pejuang in the 15th General Election (GE15) in the ongoing polls in six states. He stated that Syed Saddiq is the leader of a party that may suffer the loss of all their deposits, similar to what happened to Pejuang in last year’s national polls. Ahmad Zahid made this comment during a press conference at the Umno building in Kota Baru on July 29.
Responding to Syed Saddiq’s claim on Twitter that Ahmad Zahid was “normalising corruption” with his recent allocation announcements, Ahmad Zahid emphasized the importance of providing sufficient allocations to youths for their activities at the district, state, and national levels. He also stated that the unity government would not retract the recently-announced allocations if it were to lose in certain states.
Regarding the newly-formed political party for Orang Asli, Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Chairman of Barisan Nasional, expressed his opposition to attempts to divide the community. He said that the party is sponsored by their opponents, and the government through the Orang Asli Department (Jakoa) is committed to ensuring development for the community. Ahmad Zahid emphasized the importance of not destroying the aspirations of the Orang Asli, who desire development, and urged for their inclusion along with other ethnicities in the country.
