PETALING JAYA: The family of murdered autistic child Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin, who was found dead last year will continue to put up a brave front for his parents, who are currently under remand.
Zayn Rayyan’s 56-year-old grandfather Zahari Mohd Reba said the family will be present at court on Thursday (June 13) as the remand period for the child’s parents will end then.
“InsyaAllah, we are all strong. We will be present tomorrow. I am just glad today (proceeding) is over. I leave it all to the lawyers,” he said briefly when met with reporters outside the Petaling Jaya Magistrate’s court here on Wednesday (June 12)..
Earlier on Wednesday, Magistrate’s Court here has recorded an objection by lawyers representing the parents of autistic child Zayn who was found murdered after being reported to be missing from his home last year.
When meeting the press, lawyer Mahmud Jumaat said the objection was made under Section 26(1) of the Evidence Act due to an application filed by the police.
The objection is against an application by the police under Section 26(1) of the Evidence Act to obtain a guilty plea from Zayn Rayyan’s mother
He said his client – Zayn’s mother – had given a statement before Magistrate Zhafran Rahim Hamzah on Wednesday.
Zayn’s parents are currently on a second six-day remand extension which would end on Thursday.
The couple were arrested by the Selangor Criminal Investigation Department on May 31, to assist the police investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
On Dec 6, last year, the six-year-old Zayn Rayyan was found dead at a stream near Apartment Idaman, Damansara Damai.
Based on a post mortem conducted, the six-year old was killed based on injuries found on his neck and body.
