    Australia Open 2023 Badminton Prize Money explained

    The Australian Open 2023 (badminton) is set to begin today, August 1, in Sydney, following the conclusion of the Japan Open 2023 in Tokyo. This tournament is part of the 2023 Badminton World Federation World Tour and has been upgraded to a BWF World Tour Super 500 event. The Australian Open has been held since 1975 and offers a significant prize money pool and BWF points for players to earn world rankings.

    The total prize money for the Australian Open 2023 is USD 420,000, with the men’s and women’s singles champions receiving USD 31,500 and 9,200 BWF points each. The runners-up in the singles events will receive USD 15,960 and 7,800 BWF points. The semi-finalists will take home USD 6,090 each along with 6,420 BWF points. In the doubles category, the winners will receive USD 33,180 and 9,200 BWF points, while the runners-up will receive USD 15,960 and 7,800 BWF points. The semi-finalists in the doubles events will get USD 5,880 and 6,420 BWF points. Players who are eliminated before the round of 16 will receive BWF points but no prize money.

    The Australian Open 2023 will run from August 1 to August 6 at the State Sports Centre in Sydney, Australia.

    Several star players will be participating in the tournament. Anthony Sinisuka Ginting from Indonesia is the top-seeded player in the men’s singles event. Other notable players include Kodai Naraoka from Japan, Loh Kean Yew from Singapore, and Prannoy HS from India. In the women’s singles event, Ratchanok Intanon from Thailand is the top-seeded player. Other players to watch out for include Pornpawee Chochuwong from Thailand, PV Sindhu from India, and Kim Ga-eun from South Korea.

    Fans can live stream all the matches of the Australian Open 2023 on the Badminton World Federation’s official YouTube channel, BWF TV. After this tournament, there will be a break in the badminton action until the China Open 2023, which is scheduled to begin on September 5 in Changzhou, China.
