Cristiano Ronaldo has kicked off the new season by scoring a powerful header for Al-Nassr in their latest match.
- The Portuguese superstar helped secure a comfortable 4-1 win.
- Many big names are making their way to the Middle East.
WHAT HAPPENED? In a match during the Arab Club Champions Cup on Monday, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner played for his Saudi Arabian club against Tunisian team Monastir. Ronaldo’s goal came in the 74th minute when the score was tied 1-1. With ample time and space at the back post, he leapt into the air and headed home a cross from the right.
THE BIGGER PICTURE: Last season, Ronaldo scored 14 goals in 19 appearances for Al-Nassr after joining the club as a free agent following his departure from Manchester United. This season, he is determined to win major trophies after going empty-handed in his debut campaign.
WHAT NEXT? Ronaldo is not the only high-profile player to make a move to the Middle East this summer. Other notable names, including Karim Benzema, Marcelo Brozovic, Roberto Firmino, and former Liverpool midfielder Fabinho, have also joined Saudi Arabian clubs.
