Season 1 of D.P. ended in tragedy, but Season 2 brought some peace when Cho Suk Bong met with An Jun Ho in a mid-credits scene. Throughout Season 2, the show aimed to answer the question raised by Cho Suk Bong: why did nobody do anything to help him? This question deeply affected Jun Ho’s conscience, leading him to become a deserter and rebel against the army and government. Jun Ho always carried the lighter given to him by Shin Woo Suk, who died tragically because Jun Ho neglected to look for him while partying with his senior.

Jun Ho’s negligence haunted him, especially considering his own upbringing and witnessing his mother suffer abuse from his father. Jun Ho may have even come to blows with his father, which could explain why he learned boxing at a young age. Despite their strained relationship, Jun Ho tried to save his mother from abuse. Similarly, he felt responsible for Shin Woo Suk’s death and not being able to save him. This theme of accountability continued throughout the series.

The importance of right and wrong became a central focus after the incident with Ru Ri. Jun Ho realized that ignoring unnecessary violence and cruelty was no longer an option. People like Ru Ri and Cho Suk Bong demanded to know why Jun Ho and Han Ho Yeol didn’t help them. Jun Ho discovered that intervening in institutional problems could be futile and even put him at risk. However, when they stood up for what was right, they were able to save Ru Ri from an unjust death and make a difference.

The case of General Jung Seok further motivated Jun Ho to take action. He saw how the system covered up the circumstances surrounding General Jung Seok’s death to protect the real victim. Jun Ho realized that success wasn’t the determining factor, but rather the need to take a stand. He fought against villains and faced difficult situations to bring evidence to court and seek justice for the countless victims who were bullied and harassed.

In the end, they didn’t achieve the exact outcome they desired, but they hadn’t lost the cause either. When Cho Suk Bong appeared to meet Jun Ho in the mid-credits scene of Season 2, it symbolized that some wrongs had been made right and provided the motivation to continue fighting. The show explored themes of accountability, the importance of standing up for what is right, and the flaws within the system.
