Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja batted on day one of the second Test against West Indies in Port of Spain on July 20. India scored 288 runs for four wickets at stumps. The opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal had a strong partnership, but West Indies bowled well in the afternoon session. Kohli and Jadeja played brilliantly in the final session, adding 106 runs without losing a wicket. Kohli will resume his innings on day two, just 14 runs away from his century. Kohli and Jadeja played some beautiful shots, especially on the off side. The West Indies bowlers struggled in the first session but improved in the afternoon. The disciplined bowling led to the dismissals of Rohit, Jaiswal, Gill, and Rahane. Rohit and Jaiswal had a great start, scoring 121 runs in the first session. Jaiswal was dropped on the last ball of the session. This is the 100th Test between India and West Indies, and captains from both teams received a special memento from Brian Lara. The pitch in Port of Spain is not as lively as expected, and West Indies’ decision to bowl first did not pay off. Rohit and Jaiswal took advantage of the short balls from the West Indies pacers. Kohli reached his half-century with a six and Jaiswal played aggressively towards the end of the session.
