Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) head coach Esteban Solari expressed his satisfaction with the team’s 2-0 victory over Selangor FC last night, considering the tough challenge they faced. The Argentinian-born coach stated that his team had approached the match as if it were a final, fully prepared for a difficult game.
While admitting the difficulty in reading such games, Solari expressed his happiness with his team’s performance, asserting that they were in control of the game from start to finish. He acknowledged that they missed several scoring opportunities due to Selangor FC’s strong defensive approach.
Solari specifically praised the performance of JDT’s new striker, Heberty Fernandes, who scored the opening goal during his first appearance in the second half. He highlighted the significance of having players like Fernandes and acknowledged that he will need some time to adjust to the team.
Selangor FC coach Tan Cheng Hoe also commended his players despite the loss to the Super League leaders. Cheng Hoe revealed that their plan was to secure one point from the match, but he recognized the discipline displayed by his players. He acknowledged the difference in skill levels between the two teams, which made it challenging for them to control the situation.
Cheng Hoe mentioned that the loss of Mickey (Mohamad Faisal Halim) had an impact on their game. He emphasized that Selangor FC is determined to maintain their second-place position in the table and will work on strengthening their gameplay in future matches.
