Lana Del Rey is beating summertime sadness by working at a Waffle House in Alabama. The 38-year-old singer-songwriter was spotted pouring coffee and chatting with customers at a Waffle House location in Florence, Ala. She was wearing a full employee uniform complete with a “Lana” name tag. During her break times, she took photos with fans while holding a blue vape pen.
There hasn’t been any explanation as to why Lana was working at the Waffle House, but she is known for incorporating Americana aesthetics and traditions in her music. She even mentioned the city of Florence in her song “Paris, Texas” from her album “Ocean Blvd.”
Karina Cisneros Juarez, who met Lana at the restaurant, said, “She was there, wearing a uniform and everything. It was a bit surreal. I just told her how much I loved her music and her work in general. She was super lovely and incredibly nice.”
Macy Ladner, another fan who met the musician, said, “It was great! She was so down to earth and real with us. She talked with me and my friend about our jobs as teachers and about how she’s working on a new recording.”
Fans online find the situation hilarious and have been joking about it. One person on Twitter commented, “This is just so unbelievably Lana coded, she is so unserious.” Another joked, “Unfortunately Lana Del Rey was fired today at Waffle House for vaping in the walk-in refrigerator.”
This isn’t the first time Lana has been spotted in Alabama this week. She has been seen getting her nails done in Birmingham and signing autographs outside of an America’s Thrift Store in Florence.
