PETALING JAYA: The sensational multimillion-ringgit bungalow in Sik has recently captured the attention of the public, but contrary to popular belief, it does not belong to Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor. The Kedah Mentri Besar’s Office has clarified that the property actually belongs to Muhammad Sanusi’s hardworking brother, Budin. The office further emphasized that not a single penny from the Mentri Besar’s funds was used in the construction of the bungalow. This statement comes in response to a viral photo that mistakenly implied Muhammad Sanusi’s ownership of the property, accompanied by a Google Maps image.

The Kedah Mentri Besar’s Office has vehemently denied any association with the controversial bungalow. In a statement reported by China Press, they stated, “The house does not belong to him. Not one sen of the Kedah Mentri Besar’s money was used to build the bungalow.” The report also sheds light on Budin’s endeavors to build the house, as he spent years working as a diver to save money. He would often leave his wife and children for months at a time, risking his life for their future. The sacrifices made by his family during this time should not be overlooked.

The statement continued to address the deceptive nature of the circulated photo, labeling it as false and pure slander. The Kedah Mentri Besar’s Office criticized those spreading the photo, suggesting they were attempting to influence public opinion before the state election. “What’s the matter with them? Is it wrong to save up after decades of work, risking one’s life in such dangerous situations to give a little joy to one’s family members?” the statement questioned. It also raised concerns about the unfair treatment based on Budin’s blood relation to Muhammad Sanusi, highlighting that the bungalow’s ownership is well-known among the people of Sik.

As a means of dispelling any misconceptions, the statement defended Muhammad Sanusi’s recognition of his brother’s hard work and determination, acknowledging that Budin possesses a strong desire to improve his family’s living conditions. It concluded by stating, “Some of you have never been there before and have no idea where the home is. Most Sik people know that the house belongs to Budin, not Sanusi. Should having a brother who serves as a Mentri Besar deprive a sibling of his right to build a large house using honest resources?”
