    Prohibited Items in Baggage: Boarding Airplanes Restricted for Passengers | Travel

    The Airports Authority of India recently published guidelines about the kind of things passengers can carry in their baggage and a list of banned items too. However, the truth is that no one really goes through these guidelines before packing some of the banned items in their baggage.

    If such banned items are detected in the baggage, the passengers can be restricted from boarding planes. Here is a list of items that shouldn’t be carried in your airplane baggage.

    Individual items
    Lighters
    Scissors, sharp metal objects
    Realistic copies of toy weapons

    Sharp objects
    Box cutters
    Ice axes/ ice picks
    Knives (except round-bladed, butter knife or plastic cutlery)
    Meat cleavers
    Utility knives, empty razor cartridges, razor blades (except safety razors)
    Sabers
    Swords
    Box cutters
    Ice axes/ ice picks

    Inflammable items
    Liquid aerosols/ gel/ paste would be allowed as per special guidelines. Each item shouldn’t be more than 100 ml. Prescription medicines/ inhalers and baby food have been avoided from this list. However, these should be stored in transparent plastic bags.
    Fuels (including cooking fuel and inflammable fuel)
    Gasoline
    Gas torches
    Lighter fluids
    Turpentine, paint thinner
    Realistic copies of explosives

    Chemicals and other dangerous items
    Chlorine for spas and pools
    Compressed gas cylinders (including firefighting devices)
    Liquid bleach
    Spillable battery (except for the ones used in wheelchairs)
    Spray paint
